4 October: West End premiere of Way Upstream at the National Theatre in 1982 - postponed from 18 August due to the set flooding the theatre; world premiere of Love Undertaken at St Mary's Parish House, Scarborough in 1961; world premiere of An Evening With PALOS at the Lyric Theatre, London, in 1983.

5 October: Alan Ayckbourn's most influential mentor, Stephen Joseph, dies in Scarborough in 1967; world premiere of It Could Be Any One Of Us at the Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round in 1983; television premiere of ITV's adaptation of Table Manners (The Norman Conquests) in 1977.

6 October: West End revival of The Norman Conquests at the Old Vic in 2008.

8 October: Broadway premiere of Absurd Person Singular at the Music Box Theatre in 1974; first Ayckbourn Weekend launched in Scarborough in 2010.

9 October: The Victoria Theatre opens in Stoke-on-Trent in 1962 - this is the country's first purpose-built theatre-in-the-round venue and Alan Ayckbourn worked there between 1962 and 1964 as writer, director and actor.

12 October:
Television premiere of ITV's adaptation of Living Together (The Norman Conquests) in 1977.

13 October:
World premiere of My Wonderful Day at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in 2009; West End premiere of Comic Potential at the Lyric Theatre in 1999; London premiere of Season's Greetings at The Round House in 1980.

22 October: Premiere of the film of Alan Ayckbourn's world premiere production of Family Album in 2022; Broadcast premiere of The Luck Of Arthur Clough by Peter Russell with Alan Rothwell, directed by Alan Ayckbourn, on BBC Home Service in 1966.

24 October: The Guardian reports that Alan Ayckbourn will no longer allow his plays to be produced in the West End following issues with the London production of the Damsels In Distress trilogy in 2003.

25 October: Alan Ayckbourn's Official Website announces the discovery of the long-thought lost original abandoned draft of Absurd Person Singular by the playwright's Archivist, Simon Murgatroyd, within the Ayckbourn archive at the Borthwick Institute for Archives at the University of York.

26 October: The Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round opens in 1976 with the Scarborough premiere of Mr Whatnot.

28 October: Broadway premiere of Alan Ayckbourn and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical By Jeeves at the Helen Hayes Theatre in 2001.

29 October: Alan Ayckbourn is awarded Yorkshire Man of the Year in 1994 - despite not being born in Yorkshire!

30 October: Broadcast premiere of The South Bank Show - The Plain Guide To Playwriting on ITV in 1994.
